Decorating on a Budget

As a blogger and content creator, I love to inspire my audience in all aspects of life. I’m particularly passionate about sharing budget-friendly home décor and simple DIY projects. My family and I live in a custom-built, modern house, so I’m always thinking of new ways to make the space feel homey.

Embracing Trendy Colors

Our house is where we spend the majority of our time: My husband and I both work from home, and it’s the place where we make memories with our four children. Most of our décor is black and white, but I wanted to add some color, so I turned to the Color ID quiz from Sherwin-Williams for inspiration.

The quiz was simple, and after I answered a few questions I was matched with the Color ID Trendsetter palette. This really fits with my personality because I’m not afraid to push boundaries and try new things, especially when it comes to decorating. My personal philosophy? Go bold or go home. Though I love a black-and-white base, I also love incorporating geometric shapes and accent walls to make a statement.

Creating a Comfy Space Image

Creating a Comfy Space

The living room is where we always gather to watch movies or hang out with friends. I chose the shade Saguaro SW 6419 for the dividing wall, because I thought a splash of forest green would help warm up the space, and Pure White SW 7005 for the adjacent wall. Pure White really helps Saguaro stand out, which is the look I wanted to achieve.

I had a lot of fun incorporating the colors from the Color ID Trendsetter palette in the space—and it was easy because all 16 shades can be mixed and matched in different ways. I used cute throw pillows to pull in shades of pink and blue, potted plants for even more green, and tied in black with my side table and rug. Adding all of these colors really brought the room to life!
